Clearwater Group
is a multidisciplinary contracting firm that specializes in water
resource evaluations, environmental assessments and hazardous waste
remediation projects. The corporation, formed in 1990, also provides
services as a general engineering contracting firm certified for
well drilling, hazardous waste removal, and asbestos abatement.
The Clearwater Group staff includes hydrogeologists, environmental scientists,
engineers, and equipment operators. Principal level staff includes
certified hydrogeologists, registered geologists, registered environmental
assessors, and certified lead and asbestos inspectors.
ENVIRONMENTAL DUE DILIGENCE FOR PROPERTY TRANSFERS
Clearwater Group has performed hundreds of Phase I Environmental Assessments. These projects are typically 10 to 15 days in duration and are performed by experienced registered environmental professionals. Clearwater Group works for many banks and financial institutions and their clients. Clearwater uses the latest ASTM standards, Phase I ASTM E 1527-04.
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Preliminary Site Inspections, and Due Diligence for Property Transfers.
ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS, COMPLIANCE
AND SITE CLOSURES
Clearwater
Group has performed thousands of Phase II Subsurface Investigations.
Most of the projects relate to spill responses to surface leaks,
industrial processes, or tank removals. The firm operates Geoprobe®
and Powerprobe® sampling rigs, as wells as other state-of-the-art
techniques to assess and remediate petroleum hydrocarbons, organic
solvents and metals contaminated sites. The firm has several
proprietary in-situ soil and groundwater remediation methods,
including the Remediation Injection Process (RIP®).
Site closure is often obtained using a risk based corrective
action (RBCA) computer model to evaluate possible human receptors
to residual contamination, which is sometimes requested by our
clients.

LITIGATION
SUPPORT AND EXPERT WITNESS SERVICES
As a contracting firm, Clearwater Group has provided
litigation services in the investigation and analysis of cases
involving contamination by hydrocarbon and solvent spills and
leaks, erosion, flooding and related issues. The firm has provided
testimony assisting with many settlement conferences. Clearwater Group's
work is used in the municipal, state and Federal courts.
STORMWATER POLLUTION PREVENTION
AND MONITORING
Clearwater Group designs and performs stormwater
runoff studies and storm water pollution prevention monitoring.
From that information, Clearwater Group build stormwater and
erosion control related construction projects The firm installs
high-efficiency, low-cost hydrocarbon filtration units in drop-in
and curb-opening storm basins to capture stormwater runoff contamination.
Typical projects include the assessment of potential sources
of stormwater pollution at a manufacturing facility, developing
a site map and inventory of exposed hazardous materials, evaluation
of spills or leaks, identification of non-stormwater discharges
or illegal connections, and collection of stormwater discharge
data.

EROSION
CONTROL
Clearwater Group
develops erosion control plans and implements erosion mitigation
measures, as by evaluating existing surface water drainage,
mapping of vegetation, development, rock outcrops and surface
soils. Techniques include stormwater and sediment detention
basins, as well as increasing the roughness coefficient on existing
drainage systems to decrease stormwater runoff velocities. Water
retention areas are occasionally used for a permanent response
to peak flow. Cost-effective temporary measures are used for
short-term solutions.

DATA
MANAGEMENT USING GPS/GIS
Clearwater Group
owns and operates mapping-grade Global Positioning System (GPS)
survey equipment. California state groundwater reporting laws
require GPS information and laboratory data for all monitoring
sites. GPS is a satellite navigation tool that captures coordinate
data after a differential correction. Soil or groundwater sampling,
soil remediation, and even cartographic mapping, site restoration
and erosion control projects are performed using GPS with sub-meter
accuracy. Clearwater Group downloads the field data into Arc-View Global
Information Software (GIS).

WEATHER DATA COLLECTION
Clearwater Group
owns and operates a portable digital weather station capable
of recording a variety of weather conditions including temperature,
rainfall, barometric pressure, humidity, wind speed, wind direction,
wind chill, and evapo-transpiration. An option to record solar
radiation is available. Weather station monitoring and data
can be useful in litigation support, as well as construction
projects.
